This Ain’t Your Grandmother’s Rocking Chair!

When you think of the rocking chair, your Gammy probably comes to mind. Sitting there knitting you a scarf as the day passes by or near a window spying on the neighbors. I think of Whistler’s Mother sitting on a rocker (even though she wasn’t painted with one). I sure don’t think of this v5 rocker from the Skram Furniture Company, an outfit founded in 2001 in the Piedmont region of North Carolina.

The piece reduces the rocking chair to its pure essence. It’s made from walnut and features a black saddle leather sling seat and back. The piece measures 26 inches high at the top of the arm rest and 34 inches deep. Buy it as is, or order it in cherry, rift-sawn white oak (in natural, whitewashed or ebonized), European beech or a custom specie.
