If you’ve spent time abroad or if you know about toilet product design (Doesn’t everyone?), you may have noticed that most toilets from other countries are cooler-looking that ours. Sure some good U.S. brands like Kohler are doing sleek one-piece units, but the majority of the design innovations come from Duravit (Germany), Toto and INAX (Japan), Caroma (Australia), and Laufen (Switzerland).
The Cadence One toilet just popped up in my mailbox (figuratively speaking, of course), and I assumed it was a foreign brand. To my surprise, it’s from a U.S.-based outfit called the ICERA Group (no idea who these folks are). The sleek gravity-fed toilet sports a two-piece design, but the bottom portion of the unit offers the benefits of a one-piece, which is easier to clean. It uses only 1 gallon of water per flush and comes with a glazed non-staining, anti-microbial surface that company claims will result in a cleaner bowl. Priced at $465, the toilet comes in three colors, but the only one that matters is white. www.icerausa.com.
