Foscarini Modernizes The Japanese Lantern

If you’ve been following us, you know we have a thing for European lighting. A favorite brand of ours is Foscarini, which we featured back in August (see post here). One of the company’s latest is Chouchin, the Japanese word for the traditional paper and bamboo lanterns. This one, by the young French designer Ionna Vautrin, has a similar design as the traditional product but is rendered in glass that’s made from a single blowing process. A colored varnish gives the product a brilliant hue and makes the body completely impermeable to light. Three shapes in three colors are available.
