Moen isn’t a name one normally associates with contemporary and minimalist high design—at least not historically. No offense, but this just wasn’t their thing. Of late, however, things have been getting interesting over there in the company’s North Olmsted, Ohio headquarters. Consider the company’s pretty decent but now-defunct ShowHouse brand, recent cool faucet designs, and the new Viq Collection of minimalist bath accessories, the company is starting to look hip. Viq pieces are made from stainless steel and feature exposed mounting screws, which is squarely in line with the modernist idea that even the utilitarian can be beautiful. Pieces include a triple robe hook, paper holder, towel ring, 18-inch towel bar, decorative toilet brush holder, and tumbler with integrated shelf. www.moen.com.
