There has been a strange occurrence taking place in the world of architectural products: minimalism. We’re not sure if consumers or manufacturers are driving this trend, but it seems items that typically have had a traditional profile are being redesigned with sleeker appearances (see our Bocci 22 and Kaldewei posts from a short time ago). We recently found a couple more examples. MTI Whirlpools, for instance, offers an end-drain shower base with a removable drain cover that gives the receptor a clean look. Another is Kohler’s 42-inch-by-42-inch Archer receptor, which also comes with a covered drain. Our guess is that some people may be getting tired of seeing the same old products and want something fresh and new. www.mtiwhirlpools.com and www.us.kohler.com.
